Happy Easter

Easter is coming, so we had a little 'påskpyssel' - this is when we have a little craft session. 

First you extract the egg from the shell. 
Pierce a small hole on the top and bottom and blow air into the egg..

Then the painting begins!

Add a bit of feather

Krister Henriksson, who is best know as Wallander in Henning Mankell’s widely praised Swedish TV series is making his West End debut in Doktor Glas, which transfers to London following its acclaimed run in Sweden.  

Doktor Glas tells the story of a 19th century physician who falls madly in love with the beautiful young wife of a corrupt clergyman. When she confides in him that her marriage is making her miserable, he agrees to help in whatever way he can. Soon Doktor Glas finds himself torn between his passion and his morality, and drives the play towards its shocking climax.

Doktor Glas will run at Wyndhams Theatre, a Delfont Macintosh Theatre, from 16 April to 11 May 2013.

Semla - the making of...

Cardamom for the Semla. We peel and grind each one in house! 

We weigh the dough for consistency

Freshly whipped cream

Cutting the lid, filing it with our home made almond paste.

Topping it with cream and dusting the lid with icing sugar.

Semla - how do you eat yours?

14 February is approaching, people are calling in to find out if we are making this strange, yet delicious concoction. This is our Fat Tuesday indulgence...

What does it consist of?
A cardamom flavoured bun filled with almond paste topped with cream and dusted with icing sugar. 
At Fika we make all of it at home from the bun to the almond paste.

Lucia and Lusse bullar

Lucia is the celebration of Saint Lucia the, bringer of light. It is a magical celebration indeed.
Traditionally you make these gorgeous saffron buns and drink mulled wine. Hanna was baking away all day yesterday to ensure that all of you who had pre-ordered your buns would get them. I hope you enjoyed them all. We will continue to sell Lusse bullar until Christmas.
